Tournament Guidelines and Rules
1. 16 teams will be in the 6th grade/12u division,24 teams will be in the 10th grade/16u grade division
and 32 will be in the 11th grade/17u division. NO 6th year players are allowed under any circumstance.
PLEASE NOTE: All 5th yr players must have PUBLICALLY/FORMALLY ANNOUNCED via a
news media resource i.e. NJHoops.com,NYHoops.com,MetroHoops.com,HoopScoopOnline.com etc.
that they are attending Prep school and specify which one they will be attending.
2. All pool play and quarter final games will consist of two 15 MINUTE HALVES. The clock will run
the first 10 minutes of each half except for time-outs and free throws. The last 5
minutes of each half is STOP TIME. Teams shoot 1 an 1 on the 10th foul.
There will be NO double bonus on the 10th foul; 1 and 1 will continue for rest of the game.
The SEMI-FINALS and CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES will all be stop time games.
Player's will receive 6 personal fouls before disqualification.
3. Each team gets three 30 second time-outs per game. One additional timeout
is added to any remaining timeouts for each overtime period. If overtime is
necessary, it will be:
- TWO minutes in pool play,
- (3 minutes in playoffs or championship).
Each team will receive one additional 30-second timeout. If a second
overtime is needed, it will be Sudden Death BY 2 POINTS in pool play but
still three minutes in the Playoffs or Championship games. All other rules
are High school federation rules unless covered by these exceptions.
4. The first team listed on schedule will be the Home Team and wear a lighter
color uniform.
FORFEIT TIME is 10 MINUTES with the ON TIME TEAM BEING AWARDED THE WIN.
SCORE 20 0.
5. Players ARE allowed to play in more than 1 age group PROVIDED it is
within the SAME ORGANIZATION for THAT particular weekend.
ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE. The player must play in at least
1 pool play game in order to be eligible for the play-offs. VIOLATORS WILL
AUTOMATICALLY BE GIVEN A FORFEIT FOR ALL GAMES THAT THE PLAYER PLAYS WITH
THE 2ND ORGANIZATION FOR THAT WEEKEND.
6. Pool Play will consist of four teams who will play each other once for
three games in the 6th and 11th grade divisions. In the 10th grade division there will be 8
three team pools with teams playing both teams in the pool.
7. In the event of a tie in Pool Play we will use the following Tie Breakers in this
ORDER OF PRIORITY:
a) Head to Head Play...then
b) Offensive Point Differential (20 pt. max per game)...then
c) National AAU plus/minus system......then
d) If there is still a tie AFTER using these 3 tie-breakers the 4th criteria
will be fewest points allowed amongst the teams INVOLVED in the tie.
e) If needed the final criteria will be a 4 minute stop time play-off.
Please be reminded that we use these tie breakers in the above mentioned order. If the tie is
settled after using the first priority there will be no need to go the 2nd priority.
If the tie is settled after using the 2nd priority there will be no need to use the 3rd priority
....and so on.
8. Mercy Rule If a team is up by 20 points or more with three minutes or less
remaining on the clock, the game will AUTOMATICALLY BE stopped.
9. All rules not covered by this sheet will be decided by the tournament director.
